Our Governors |
The Governing Body at Larkfields Junior School is comprised of parents, staff, members of the local community and representatives of the Local Authority all acting on a voluntary basis. Each member brings their own set of skills and different perspective to their role as governor. The Head Teacher, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school. The Governing Body provide a strategic view and act as 'critical friends' who ensure accountability and strive to make sure every child can achieve their full potential. The Chair of Governors is Mr Bob Terry and he can be contacted by our school phone or email.
The three main areas that the Governing Body focus on are: - Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction - Holding the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the performance management of staff - Overseeing the financial performance of the school, ensuring its money is well spent
Composition of the Governing Body: The composition of the Governing Body is as follows: - Two parent governors - Three co-opted governors - One local authority governor - Two partnership governors - One staff governor - The Head Teacher (permanent member of the governing body)
Committee Structure: As well as full meetings of the Governing Body, three times a year, there is also a committee meeting once a term that deals with different aspects of school organisation such as curriculum, pupils, staffing, finance and strategic development. The usual period for holding office is four years. Minutes of the Governing body meetings are available on request from the school office. |
