What is the Sports Pupil Premium Grant?

The School Sports Premium Grant is additional funding from the Government to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools.  It is also used to improve the health and well-being of our pupils.

At Larkfields Junior, we want to give our children the necessary skills and enthusiasm to enable them to live a healthy and active life.  By providing a range of physical education lessons, after school clubs, lunch time clubs and by taking part in competitive sporting events, we will:

- Teach pupils the benefits of participating in physical activity

Develop physical confidence to enable pupils to engage in a variety of activities

- Encourage children to realise the enjoyment and self esteem they can gain from participating in sport and physical activity

Help pupils to cope with successes and failures in both competitive and cooperative sports and activities

School Games

The School Games Mark is owned and created by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and is implemented and developed by the Youth Sport Trust and Sport England.

The Mark rewards school for their commitment to and the development of competition, school sport and physical education.

Larkfields Junior School have been awarded the School Games Gold Mark every year since 2014.

 

National Curriculum Requirements

 

The percentage of our Year 6 cohort from 2022 - 2023 who can swim competently, confidently and efficentialy over a distance of a least 25 metres: 88%
The percentage of our Year 6 cohort  from 2022 - 2023 who can use a range of strokes effectively: 86%
The percentage of our Year 6 cohort  from 2022 - 2023 who can perform safe self-resue in different water based situations 60%
