Don't forget that if you're taking part in the Cross Country Event at Wollaton Park, Mr Betts and Miss Mitchell are running practise sessions on Monday morning breaks (you'll need your PE Kit).

The Event will be held on Friday 10th February and parents are allowed to watch. We will have lunch at school and then set off.  Good Luck and don't forget your running shoes and a coat!

It was fantastic to see so many children sign-up for the Swimming Gala Trials! We love to see enthusiasm for our sporting events and Mrs Bradshaw said everyone gave it their best at the Trials. A big well done to all the children who gave it a go and Good Luck to the Gala Team, here's hoping we bring the trophy home again this year!

You may have smelt some yummy scents around school recently and that would be Mrs Hodgkinson's Cooking Group, making some delicious pizzas and cakes. If you would like to give it a go, they've written some useful instructions so you can make it too!

The internet also has loads of recipes for children to try! If you're interested in cooking, why not ask your parents for a hand and give some of these recipes a go?

Thinking about SATs?

We've got your back! Mr Betts, Mrs Bowen and Miss Mitchell have set up an after school club to help Year 6's prepare for their SATs in May. Everyone in Year 6 is welcome to come along

BBC Bitesize is also an excellent resource to help children revise and prepare. Click the picture below for their website:

Most important of all:

Relax!

SATs might seem scary but remember it's only for one week and then it's over. Find small ways to help you relax, whether it is playing with the family dog, kicking a football around outside, or watching your favourite episode of a cartoon series for the 1,000th time!

We are placing a huge emphasis on reading again this year at Larkfields; in particular, reading for pleasure. As the saying goes: “Open your mind. Open a book!”  Mrs Mcguire will be working closley with the Librarians.  Keep an eye out for exciting new magazines and books!  We now have The Match football magazine, WRD magazine, The Week Junior and the new editions of the Beano Comic!
